Holiday Crafts!

We got a little crafty this holiday season. Before the real snow storm came the kids and I enjoyed an afternoon at the library. Tony had worked the night before so we thought we would sneak out and see what the libraries "Winter Craft" was all about. It turned out really neat. Because of the weather there was only about 6 kids there including Carsyn and Hayden. I guess last year it was packed. The woman in charge said she was told to get enough for 50 kids, OOPS. Oh well, the small attendance was nice for us. The kids decided to start out with the Christmas card section. There was a bunch of colored paper, stamps, glitter, glue and ink pens to make whatever kind of card they wanted. Then we moved on to the orange-clove thingy (see photo below), which basically turned into my project. The kids thumbs were a little to sensitive to punch the hard, poky clove into the orange. Carsyn worked on hers for a while, I would poke it half way in then she would do the rest. She settled for a less is more look. As for Hayden he went for the more the merrier approach and he supervised me the whole time. They really turned out cute and they smelled fabulous. Then the kids moved on to their favorite one the peppermint wreath. Once we were all crafted out we went and checked out a huge pile of books and called it a day.

Here is Carsyn's orange.

The crafting didn't stop there. We were inspired by Tod and Mel's tree which included homemade ornaments. I had pointed them out to Carsyn and said that it would be fun to do some for our tree and Carsyn wouldn't let me forget. I was actually really excited about it. Carsyn and I with the help from the Ben Franklin lady got some ideas for the ornaments.

Here is Carsyn showing how we squirted glitter glue into them and swirled them around.

Here is Hayden stuffing them with glittery balls.

The glitter glue was by far the funnest for us all.
